"Lent is the Autumn of the spiritual life during which we gather fruit to keep us going for the rest of the year."  St. Francis de Sales

The season of Lent is a time of penitence and fasting as we prepare our hearts and minds for Easter. Historically, Christian converts prepared for Holy Baptism during Lent. We begin this season on Ash Wednesday (March 5th) with an invitation to observe a holy Lent.

Many will choose something to forgo during this season, such as fasting. This discipline can help heighten our awareness of our blessings and accentuate the sacrifice of Christ.  Ascension has many ways to engage throughout this season. Please join us in the offerings included below and in acts of service to others.

I pray we mark this holy season with devotion and discipline, and I encourage all to explore a new spiritual practice so that the season may deepen our faith and connection to God and one another.

Blessings on your journey.

BEING CALLED LENTEN SPEAKER SERIES
Starts Wednesday, March 12th | Parish Hall | In Person and Zoom
Dinner at 6:00 p.m. | Program at 6:30 p.m.

Feeling called to ministry is a humbling experience rooted in a deep desire to serve God and others. This five-week, Wednesday evening Lenten series starts on March 12th and is titled "Being Called | Personal Stories of Responding to the Call." We've invited five community leaders to share their journeys of responding to the call and the spiritual disciplines that have shaped them.

Everyone has a calling—whether in ordained ministry, lay service, or community involvement. This series invites you to reflect on living your faith purposefully. Join us on Wednesday nights at 6:30 p.m. for personal stories from our community leaders. Dinner is optional at 6:00 p.m., with the program from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. We look forward to seeing you! If you're joining us by Zoom, please email Fr. Paul for the link.

ADULT FORMATION
Meeting Jesus at the Table

Join our Adult Formation group this Lent as we read and study Meeting Jesus at the Table. The book examines the meals Jesus shared with people from all walks of life, from friends to Pharisees. It then asks us to consider who we invite to our tables and what impact that has on our lives. We hope you'll join us this Lent to meditate on the Gospel story and its indications for us today. Questions? Contact Joan Romanosky.
