MISSION AND VALUES
OUR MISSION AND VALUES
To restore all people to unity with God and each other.
We're so glad you're here! Whether you're a guest or long-time member, you'll find a warm community, emanating love for the uniqueness God has sewn within each and every one of us. Jesus’ central message of compassion and respect for all people undergirds all that we undertake. When the world is starving for communities to reach across all divides, Ascension is a place where you can learn and practice how to express daily the deepest meaning of God's love.
Our Core Values are:
-
Celebrating our unity in Christ while honoring our differences, always putting the work of love before uniformity of opinion.
-
Reaching out to our greater community, inviting all parts of it to celebrate and share in communion with us.
-
Loving our neighbors and upholding the dignity of all peoples by feeding the hungry and caring for the sick.
-
Grounding ourselves in a sacred rhythm of worship, music, fellowship, and service.
-
Affirming that, for Christians, marriage is a lifelong commitment between two adults, regardless of gender. Episcopalians also recognize that there is grace after divorce, celebrate re-marriages, and do not deny the sacraments to those whose marriages have ended.
-
Affirming the ordination of men and women to the Priesthood, regardless of their gender or orientation.
-
Respecting the decisions of others, while acknowledging that scripture, tradition, and experience invite us all to our own beautifully individual ways of experiencing God.
If you’re new to the Episcopal Church we invite you to visit the Visitor's Center of the national church. You'll find information about what Episcopalians believe and answers to other frequently asked questions.
