Christmas in Bethlehem. The ancient dream: a cold, clear night made brilliant by a glorious star, the smell of incense, shepherds and wise men falling to their knees in adoration of the sweet baby, the incarnation of perfect love. - Lucinda Franks
Christmas is the annual celebration of the Incarnation of God. We gather to recall this precious moment when God became fully human and lived among us. The stories surrounding the event remain important, both in capturing what took place a few thousand years ago and in our desire to see God in the world today. Christmas for the church is not a single day but a season, beginning on December 25th and lasting for twelve days. I believe we are to use these days to contemplate the Incarnation and to recognize how Christ lives with us in our own lives. This understanding ties closely with the Feast of the Epiphany that follows. Christmas is different for each of us and is likely different with every passing year. My hope for us is that we make time to worship together, seeking to embrace the holy mysteries of our tradition and receiving from the sacraments as they are offered. May we continue to pursue God’s presence more fully in the seasons ahead. Join us, in person or online, for our Christmas offerings. I look forward to worshiping with you. Blessings,
