True love is not a strong, fiery, impetuous passion. It is, on the contrary, an element calm and deep. It looks beyond mere externals, and is attracted by qualities alone. It is wise and discriminating, and its devotion is real and abiding. - Ellen G. White
The stewardship committee, a vital part of our community, works tirelessly year round to help Ascension consider how what we do, with all that we have, all of the time can serve God and the church. Each fall, their efforts culminate in a campaign to accentuate this larger purpose and invite members to consider how they will give and serve the church in the year to come. The theme of this year's stewardship campaign is “Abide in Love…Live with Purpose”. It combines the idea of deliberate, sustained love with how we live our lives and find our purpose.
As in past years, members will write reflections about the Sunday readings, incorporating this theme throughout. Each month of the campaign will also include a member speaking at service about this theme and their experiences of stewardship at Ascension. I look forward to these reflections as they have been a powerful witness to our members’ faith and the significance of this community.
Additionally, this year we will hear from the chairperson of each committee. Each will share about the committee's ministry and how to get involved. Some of these will include a tour of relevant spaces, such as the Elaine Kadane Food Pantry, Harvest of Hope Community Garden, and our Choir Room. All of this will not only help us connect with how we spend our time and talent at Ascension but also inspire personal growth and spiritual fulfillment. I am excited about the various aspects of this campaign and hope you will enjoy all that it offers as well.
Blessings,
