"We know that God works all things together for good for the ones who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose.” - Romans 8:28
It has been wonderful to see the increasing participation in worship over the past few weeks. As this continues, please help welcome those who are first-time guests. The core values of Ascension helped hold us together through the difficult season of pandemic; our focus on welcome, the ministry of hospitality, and the sharing of God’s love will shape our future. I believe we all know what it is like to be made welcome into someone’s home. The way we welcome “well” in our church home often looks no different. We’re reminded in Hebrews 13:2 to “not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.”
In the months ahead, we will resume some of our favorite offerings while cultivating new opportunities for our future. Our focus will be twofold: to continue adhering to our fundamental tenets, and to increase our collective participation. Our parish as a whole has been active in our care for one another, in attending formation, and in our outbound ministries. Now, it is time to take our commitment to the next level.
In order to be deliberate as we expand our life and ministry, we will hold a strategic planning session soon. Our aims will be to create opportunities for current members as well as to attract new members to serve along with us. I am optimistic that our increase in participation will continue in the coming weeks, and I am counting on you to be a vital part of it!
Blessings -
Fr. Paul
